first-year
player

Vista,
Arizona,
tossed
a
pair
of
complete-game
shutouts
last
week
for
the
Sharks.
On
Feb.
21,
she
went
the
distance
in
MDC’s
4-0
win
over
Seminole.
The
next
day,
she
pitched
all
eight
innings,
allowing
only
one
hit
in
the
process,
in
the
Shark’s
1-0
win
against
Manatee.
For
the
week,
Bennett
yielded
only
4
hits
and
three
walks
while
striking
out
14
batters
in
15
total
innings
of
work.

Freshman Pitcher Erika Bennett set a Miami Dade College record by pitching five consecutive shutouts for the softball team. During the five-game stretch, Bennett pitched 35 innings, allowed eight hits, and struck out 34 batters.
